Good Evening Ladies,

Has anybody tried either or both of the above for their PMS/PMDD?

Estradiol HRT Patch and Uterogestan - Progesterone?

How did you get on? Did it help?

What are the alternatives?

Has anybody also tried any of the contraceptive pills e.g Dianette?

Has this helped your symptoms?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thankyou

XXX

Post subject:  Re: Estradiol & Uterogestan vs The Pill

I had terrible pmdd right from the age of 14 and was on the pill for years (just the ordinary one, not danette). The pill made my periods less painful and at least meant I was in control of my cycle and didn't have to have a period at important times such as holidays. I will say though that I always felt a bit 'flat' on the pill with no get-up-and-go. I also craved junk food. I also still had terrible pmdd.

When i was 46 and started getting meno symptoms I was put on oestrogel and norethisterone tablets. The noreth brought back the pmdd symptoms but at least once again I could make sure I only had a period when it was convenient for me. I tried utrogestan at one point to see if it was better than the noreth and it about sent me nuts! Its supposed to be a more gentle, natural prog but it really didn't suit me at all! However, I will say that some women are ok on it and this is just my personal experience of it. Ive had a full hysterectomy now though and only need to take the oestrogen.
