Post subject:  coming off decapeptyl - what to expect?

Hi

I was diagnosed with PMD in 2011 and was started on decapeptyl with add back hrt ( tibiolne). It has done a really fantastic job and I am very happy with it. However, my partner and I are now planning to have a child in the very near future and I am therefore going to come off the medication and am a little nervous about this. I just wondered if anyone could give any advice about how they coped with this? And also, how long it took people for their periods to return?I have been on the 3 monthly injection since February 2011 Thanks x

Hi Ems33,
I tried coming off Decapetyl to try for a family and unfortunately my PMDD came roaring back with no sign of a period so I restarted it very quickly. I hope you manage to manage your symptoms to allow you to have a child. It may be that you need a different treatment to tide you over and that is compatible with pregnancy. I would suggest that the best thing to do would be to go back to the doc who started you on the Decapeptyl and ask about your options. All the very best. Jx
