Thanks for your replies both of you!
I've just had a horrendous week prior to coming on today. I guess it's good that it was only a week, not two weeks, but I had pelvic pain for the whole time (i also get ovulation pain - so that was a couple of weeks ago). I felt like I was about to come on at any minute all week because of the pain, but no!
Embarrassed myself countless times with my irrationality and tears. Felt so tired and ill. It has to be the hormones doesn't it? But I had a blood test and it all came back normal. The docs just want to treat it with counselling. Which will be great, but how will that sort out the hormones??

I feel pretty hopeless about it all

But I have a doctors appointment next week and I am going to ask for a gynae referral. Is there anything else I should be asking them? I am going to write everything down when I go.

Thanks all so much. It's a horrible horrible thing.

Hi again,

It may be worth having a read of the guidelines http://www.pms.org.uk/assets/files/guid ... l60210.pdf and maybe even printing a copy for your doctor too.

Also, blood tests do normally come back normal as it's not the hormone levels but the brain's reaction to the fluctuating levels which seems to be the problem.

Hope your doc listens to you and you get your referral. Good luck and please do let us know how you get on.

Hi , you must go to gp armed with mood and cycle chart. Asked to be reffered to a specialist. I suffered for decades with this until I was at breaking point, this site has been a life saver. I'm 1 year on from hyst and oophrectomy and have been emotionally stable ever since day after opp. I reccomend it. I look back now with disbelief that I coped for so long. There is help out there, educate you gp and suggest they look at this site as it was my consultant that introduced me to naps. The gnrh injections are also a great respite from symptoms. Good luck, never give up :-)

Hi all. I've finally got my Gynae referral, and my appointment is next month.
I'm wondering what to expect, and what to ask.
GP has never asked me for charts etc, and now I'm worried the Consultant won't take me seriously if I don't have them.
